Edith Poor, Communications Consultant » The Give and Take of Every Meeting

At its best, a business meeting is full of tension: the creative tension of active listening, of close reading, and of clear, provocative speaking. Business leaders must have the skill to spark this energy and to shape it. Such a skill requires not only that leaders themselves be good listeners, readers, and speakers—but that they know how to model these traits for others, both in the meeting and outside of it.

In my seminars and coaching sessions, the focus is not only on building communication skills, but on learning how to model them so that in every meeting, in every interaction you have, you can develop these skills in others.
