Edith Poor, Communications Consultant » Fear of Public Speaking

The fear is universal, we are told (but women may experience this fear differently from men). After working with public speakers for more than twenty years, I’m convinced that we’ve been approaching it all wrong. We teach people how to speak in spite of their fear. But we have not been able to teach them how to speak because of it.
In my seminars and coaching sessions, I work with speakers to help them use stagefright: to help them think differently about stagefright so that it becomes a healthy phase in their development as confident public selves.
